Our Learning Vision
We aim to provide an exciting curriculum which brings out the best in every child, builds on their strengths and enables them to develop a life long love of learning. From Easter 2014 we will begin a creative, thematic curriculum. This is a carefully planned approach to teaching and learning designed to support children’s natural curiosity and stimulate their creativity. We will ensure that teaching is inspiring, exciting and challenging.
A variety of teaching methods will be used within learning for the whole class, individuals and groups of pupils. We will offer children the opportunity to work in depth, giving them the time they need to reflect, consolidate and apply their learning in a range of contexts. First hand experience will be placed at the centre of the curriculum so the teachers draw out and develop children’s thinking, scaffolding next steps then allowing children to work independently.
We will give opportunities for children, adults and parents work with each other, drawing resources from the school, the locality and the wider community to create a challenging and exciting curriculum. All children have an entitlement to a well resourced and rich learning environment that promotes their sense of responsibility and autonomy and we will endeavour to provide this. We will demonstrate an atmosphere that promotes respect and consideration so that children learn to value each other, their adult helpers and the environment in which they live and learn.
